The Vindicator Flag-raising tradition The sixth-grade class at St. Patrick School in Hubbard has been given the privilege of continuing the tradition of raising the American flag each school day morning. Showing their patriotism by raising the flag March 4 are, from left, Michaela Huber and Concetta Seidler. When classes come to a close in the afternoon, they lower the flag, carefully fold it and put it away for the next day.

GIRL Magazine sponsored a visit by Olympic softball gold medalist Jessica Mendoza, second from left, to Ursuline High School on Tuesday. Mendoza spent the day talking to the Ursuline players about running, sliding, hitting, diving, bunting and other techniques to become a better softball player and athlete, as demonstrated by Ursuline player Malikka Cage, foreground. Cage initiated Mendoza’s visit, writing to ESPN and inviting them to come to the school.

The Red Cross also is involved in the collection and processing of blood products under its Northern Ohio Blood Services Region located in Cleveland. Mary Bee of Braceville, who draws blood, explains the process to Jeff Grope, a sophomore at Lowellville High School, who was donating for the first time at a recent blood drive at the school.
